Agricultural Pathogenic Soil Fungus
On July 11, 2019, we received a Laboratory Request from a Chemical Company that needed a Microbiology Laboratory for anti-fungal testing a chemical against the agriculturally important soil fungus Fusarium oxysporum.
Fusarium is a ascomycete “sac” fungus that is ubiquitous in soil. Although relatively harmless in soil, in agricultural settings such as farm , Fusarium maybe very pathogenic to plants.
In addition to being pathogenic to plants, Fusarium species cause a broad spectrum of infections in humans. These infections in human maybe superficial, locally invasive, and disseminated infections.
