Laboratory Proficiency Testing

Laboratory Proficiency Testing, sometimes referred to as inter-laboratory comparison, is used to assess the performance of laboratories by having them perform specific tests or measurements.

Laboratory Proficiency Testing is performed by sending a specific item for testing at different laboratories. Each of the participating laboratories performs the testing according to given instructions and the results are sent to an administrator who compares them to a reference value. If a laboratory has results too far off from the reference, they’re responsible for investigating why the discrepancy and then performing corrective measures.
Performing testing in this manner ensures accuracy of testing and helps validate the testing process. Different proficiency tests exist for different industries.
Contract Laboratory has received the following test requests relating to laboratory proficiency testing:
  • Laboratory Consultant needed for advising on the complete set-up of CLIA urine and blood toxicology laboratory including laboratory equipment and startup procedures such as Standards of Operations, Policy and Procedures, Proficiency Testing, etc.
